EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) has announced the addition of the
IQS-9100B MEMs Optical Switch test module to its Windows-based IQS-600
platform, the only modular system designed for R&D and manufacturing
applications providing optical, transport and datacom testing in a single
environment.
In today’s competitive telecom environment, network equipment
manufacturers are more sensitive than ever to testing costs and instrument
reliability. The new IQS-9100B MEMS Optical Switch has a life expectancy 1000
times longer than the previously available IQS-9100 Optical Switch. The
IQS-9100B’s typical switching time of 20 milliseconds also saves almost half a
second per switching cycle compared to the first-generation IQS-9100. The
IQS-9100B MEMS Optical Switch is available for singlemode fiber in 1 x N
configurations up to 32 ports.
“The reliability and performance of the IQS-9100B MEMS Optical Switch
will really help network equipment manufacturers meet their daily challenge to
bring more reliable equipment, faster to the market and at a lower cost,” said
Étienne Gagnon, EXFO’s Vice-President—Wireline Division and Corporate
Marketing. “Combining the IQS-9100B with other optical, transport or datacom
test modules in the IQS-600 platform will allow customers to quickly
reconfigure their R&D lab test setup or automate manufacturing testing,
reducing the risk of errors and increasing throughput.”
