The VoLTE test solution from Anritsu and Radvision draws on the LTE
Radio Access Network (RAN) simulation capabilities of the MD8430A LTE Network
Simulator and IMS Core simulation capabilities of the ProLab software.
Real-world simulation capabilities of the integrated VoLTE solution include LTE
RAN with Semi Persistent Scheduling (SPS), TTI Bundling, Robust Header
Compression (RoHC), and Discontinuous Reception (DRX), as well as an IMS core
with multiple Call Session Control Function (CSCF) servers and simulated
network impairments. A UE can be simulated for termination of calls from the
DUT. The test solution can also conduct voice and video quality measurements
and includes CODECs and pre-coded media.
The MD8430A and ProLab are both controlled from Anritsu’s RTD during a
test, with IMS and radio-level logging. Single-Radio Voice Call Continuity
(SRVCC) testing is possible with the addition of an Anritsu MD8480C W-CDMA/GSM
Network Simulator to the system.
“We are pleased to support the rollout of voice services onto new 4G LTE
networks,” said Wade Hulon, Vice President and General Manager of Anritsu
Company. “We understand that the quality of VoLTE must be equivalent to that of
existing circuit-switched services for successful launch, and we are working to
enable the industry for success by launching this new test tool.”
The MD8430A LTE Network Simulator can simulate up to two active and four
interfering LTE base stations on up to four RF channels. A mix of Frequency
Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD) base stations can be
simulated, with multiple MIMO configurations possible for each base station,
including SISO, 2x2 MIMO or 4x2 MIMO. A full lineup of advanced Rel. 8 and Rel.
9 features are available, including Dual-Layer Beamforming, Enhanced Multimedia
Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS), Robust Header Compression (RoHC), Semi
Persistent Scheduling (SPS), and others. The MD8430A is used as a building
block for Anritsu’s LTE Conformance and Carrier Acceptance Test solutions,
including the ME7873L LTE RF Conformance Test System and ME7834L Mobile Device
Test System.
The MX786201A RTD scripting software gives users the power to create
tests that cannot be done with traditional language-based tools. RTD supports
testing at multiple layers in the device stack, with Low-Level Procedure Libraries
for early stages of device development, and auto-configuring Layer 3 Procedure
Libraries for later stages of device development. Reference Test Cases and
Integration Libraries are available to enable building customized test cases
and libraries with ease.
The ProLab IMS/VoLTE is designed to play a critical and vital role in
the product development cycle and quality assurance, and helps chipset, handset
vendors and service providers achieve fast time-to-market. ProLab IMS/VoLTE
provides a complete IMS/VoLTE testing solution that includes IMS Core, IMS UE,
network impairment and media quality testing, as well as media analysis. It
offers audio and video quality measurement and video telephony testing, along
with IMS/LTE test cases using different scenarios to emulate the network’s UE
and IMS Core, QoS, and interoperability. ProLab comes with built-in scripts,
such as for interoperability test cases developed by the IMTC IMS Activity
Group, designated by the GSM Association (GSMA, owner of the GSMA PRD IR.92,
VoLTE specification) as the leading testing group. Covered areas include LTE
voice call establishment and supplementary services, media testing, network
impairment and more.
“Voice/Video over LTE is gaining momentum and is a complex
challenge," said Pierre Hagendorf, general manager of RADVISION’s
Technology Business Unit. "There is a clear need for interoperability
before as well as after the VoLTE service is deployed. RADVISION is honored to
be a part of the effort to realize this goal by providing the ProLab IMS/VoLTE
Testing solution. ProLab VoLTE provides the capability to test and measure the
end-user experience using unique voice and video quality measurements that
enable chipset and handset vendors to automate VoLTE testing, thereby reducing
the testing time.”
