Rohde & Schwarz and Swissqual Announce Sales Partnership for the New R&S®ROMES2GO Test Smartphone

Rohde & Schwarz has enhanced its drive test portfolio with the new version of the R&S®ROMES2GO, which is an advanced, LTE-capable walk test solution based on an Android smartphone. Various models cover all major wireless technologies – from GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA and HSPA to CDMA, EV DO and LTE. An optional voice quality measurement in line with the new POLQA standard is also available. Measurement results are converted into the data format used by the R&S®ROMES software and can be analyzed in detail back at the workplace.

The new R&S®ROMES2GO is a compact, flexible walk test solution for network operators and their partners, e.g. T&M service providers, manufacturers and operators of network infrastructure and regulatory authorities. When using network voice and data services, the handheld walk test solution works just like a normal smartphone. It is easy to operate and requires no special training. This economical solution also makes it possible to deploy a large number of test mobile phones to collect statistically conclusive data.

Field technicians can use the R&S®ROMES2GO to test networks at locations that are inaccessible by test vehicles, for example at trade fairs, airports and shopping centers. Simple measurement tasks have been preconfigured. The walk test solution measures parameters such as signal strength or performance based on the data rate. Errors are quickly and easily identified, allowing network operators to provide better coverage and continually keep up with the requirements of advanced smartphones and their users.
