The IOT was conducted using the MD8430A LTE base station simulator for
LTE terminal verification developed by Anritsu Corporation, and the SORBAS LTE
terminal simulator for LTE base station verification developed by Signalion.
Both solutions have been enhanced with Carrier Aggregation functionality of the
LTE-Advanced standard as a trial development by each company.
The IOT was performed in December 2011 and an average downlink
throughput of 300 Mbps was achieved in an end-to-end connection at the IP
layer. In the trial, two band-1 component carriers with 20 MHz bandwidth each
were aggregated, resulting in a total bandwidth of 40 MHz.
The next step is to reach an average uplink throughput of 100 Mbps at
the IP layer, as well as to include additional functionality for LTE-Advanced,
as required by the LTE-A market. Both companies will verify their test
equipment peer-to-peer. This IOT by two independent companies provides a higher
dependability of LTE-A test equipment at a very early stage of LTE-A product
development.
“We are excited about the success of our IOT collaboration with
Anritsu,” Tim Hentschel, Managing Director of Signalion, explains. “Anritsu and
Signalion have shown an impressive growth in the LTE test market. This latest
success proves Anritsu’s and Signalion’s very active support of the
LTE-Advanced eco system. By providing our customers with such advanced testing
capabilities, we are contributing to an early realization of the LTE-Advanced
technology in Japan, Europe, and worldwide.”
Toshihiko Takahashi, Corporate Executive Officer/R&D Director of Anritsu, said, “Having succeeded in the IOT of LTE-Advanced for the first time in the world proves the high level of technical capabilities of Anritsu and Signalion. R&D of LTE-Advanced is at a fast pace and it is accelerating as we speak, in order to respond to the rapid increase of mobile data traffic. Based on this result, Anritsu accelerates the development of test and measurement solutions and powerfully supports an early realization of LTE-Advanced.”
About Signalion
