Certification of TD-LTE Terminals Can Start Now

With the Rohde & Schwarz test platform for TD-LTE RRM test now approved by the Global Certification Forum (GCF), certification of TD-LTE terminals can start immediately.

As test platforms are already approved by GCF for RF and signaling test cases for TD-LTE, the addition of just one platform, the R&S®TS-RRM, for Radio Resource Management (RRM) means that conformance test requirements for TD-LTE handset certification are met.

For the first time, at the July meeting of the Conformance Agreement Group for GCF, Rohde & Schwarz presented RRM test cases for TD-LTE Band 38. More than 80% of the priority 1 test cases were validated by GCF straight away, so that the R&S®TS-RRM meets the Test Platform Approval Criteria (TPAC). The R&S®TS-RRM is the only test platform to meet TPAC for RRM for TD-LTE.

As a validated test platform for RRM Test on TD-LTE terminals, the R&S®TS-RRM can be used for certification in not just TDD Band 38, but also TDD Band 40. For LTE FDD, the R&S®TS-RRM has already been approved and is available for LTE FDD bands 1, 7, 13 and 20.

China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile network operator is using TDD bands 38 and 40 for trials in China; operators in the USA and Europe are launching more and more commercial LTE networks in the FDD bands 1, 7, 13, and 20. The R&S®TS-RRM is the only test platform that can provide RRM certification test for handsets for both LTE technologies.
