Rohde & Schwarz Extends Handheld Spectrum Analyzer Capabilities in LTE FDD/TDD and 3GPP WCDMA Measurements


LTE FDD/TDD
R&S®FSH-K50E and R&S®FSH-K51E measurement applications enable extended analysis of LTE FDD/TDD transmit signals with the R&S®FSH4 and R&S®FSH8 handheld spectrum analyzers.

The base firmware of the R&S®FSH4 and R&S®FSH8 spectrum analyzers includes LTE channel power measurements at a keystroke, predefined settings for LTE adjacent channel power measurement as well as measurement of spurious emissions with predefined LTE spectrum emission masks.

The R&S®FSH-K50 and R&S®FSH-K51 measurement applications will add LTE FDD eNodeB and LTE TDD eNodeB transmitter measurements, including RF channel power, carrier frequency error/offset, automatic detection of cell identity and cyclic prefix, indication of traffic activity and power as well as EVM measurement for SISO up to 4x4 MIMO LTE signals. The R&S®FSH-K50E and R&S®FSH-K51E options will allow even more extended measurements on LTE FDD eNodeB and LTE FDD eNodeB transmitters. The options also feature over-the-air LTE analysis with BTS scanner and information on signal quality with constellation diagram.

The LTE measurement applications offer various modulation measurement results, allowing users to also detect transmitter impairments (such as clipping or intermodulation) that are difficult to recognize in the spectrum. Mobile network operators, BTS suppliers, rental companies and other customers will benefit from the complete and scalable solution for in-depth LTE measurements:
  • Analysis of LTE FDD, LTE TDD signals and MIMO eNodeB transmitters (up to 4x4 MIMO over-the-air measurements, TX1/TX2 measurement for 2x2 MIMO signals)
  • Analysis of all signal bandwidths defined in the LTE standard up to 20 MHz
  • Scalable LTE solution due to concept of basic and extended measurement application

3GPP WCDMA
The new R&S®FSH-K44E measurement application makes R&S®FSH4/R&S®FSH8 handheld spectrum analyzers ready for 3GPP WCDMA BTS/Node B code domain power measurements. 

The R&S®FSH4/R&S®FSH8 spectrum analyzer with the WCDMA measurement applications is a cost-effective solution for installation and maintenance of 3GPP WCDMA base stations. There are two measurement applications available for WDCMA: The R&S®FSH-K44 option offers a 3GPP WCDMA BTS/Node B pilot channel and EVM measurement. The R&S®FSH K44E option adds 3GPP WCDMA BTS/Node B code domain power measurements.

The WCDMA measurement applications include various measurement results, allowing users to also detect transmitter impairments (such as clipping or intermodulation) that are difficult to recognize in the spectrum. This all-in-one, scalable solution for in-depth WCDMA measurements will provide customers with the following benefits:
